BSCA Stalwart Laurie Dormer Dies

The BSCA are saddened to have been informed that former President and life member, Mr Laurie Dormer, passed away peacefully overnight. We are unaware of the details and would like to pass on our condolences to his family at this time.

Laurie Dormer was well known for his life's work in swimming, commencing with lessons in outdoor pools in London to his instrumental work with programmes in the South of England namely London Borough of Ealing and Bournemouth Dolphins, among many others. Even in his late 80's Laurie was still involved with masters swimming including organising foreign training camps for such groups in Cyprus and elsewhere.

He will be remembered fondly by many for his hard work, for his contribution to the sport of swimming and for his commitment to swimming coaching in Britain. Laurie will be sadly missed.
