BSCA Backs Rudd's Calls for FINA/WADA Russian Investigation

Posted on March 22, 2016

The BSCA Executive Committee have agreed to back the calls of their Chair Jon Rudd, coach to Plymouth Leander, British Record Holder Ben Proud but most notably in this regard, Ruta Meilutyte, for an independent investigation of the Russian Swimming Federation's approach to drug testing and ensuring a clean sport prevails.

This comes after it has been announced that Russian World Champion Yuliya Efimova, faces a possible lifetime ban after testing positive for a banned substance for the second time in her career.

The BSCA have today informed the WSCA of their position & that they support their calls for a WADA investigation to be initiated by FINA, in a similar manner to that which the IAAF carried out in athletics in Russia. This led to the Russian Athletics Federation being suspended by the IAAF until certain procedures had been put place.
