The Ladies Recreation Club (LRC) is one of Hong Kong’s most sought after family oriented sports and recreations clubs. Founded in 1883, it occupies a prime location in the Mid-Levels area of Hong Kong. While the LRC is well known for tennis and swimming,  the Club has a wide range of other recreational and sporting activities, and extensive food and beverage facilities.

The LRC is currently seeking qualified applicants for the following position.

Head Swim Coach

The LRC Swimming programme has an established reputation as one of the best swim programmes in Hong Kong having produced swimmers of age-group National standard and a Masters team who consistently medal at local, regional and world level. The programme consists a total of 500+ swimmers across Learn to Swim (350+), Junior Squads (80+) and the Masters team (60+).The Club has a 25m indoor teaching pool, finishing a full renovation in February 2021, and an outdoor 25yard training and recreation pool with diving facilities.

Job Purposes:

The LRC Head Swim Coach purpose will be to uphold the mission of the swim programme: to provide a best in Hong Kong club programme where swimmers are encouraged to develop a love for swimming and reach their full potential, through the provision of a supportive teaching and coaching team structure and with a clear performance pathway, for youth to collegiate level, and masters to world age group level.

Under the direction of the Swimming Sub-Committee and Sports & Recreation Manager, the Head Swim Coach will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operation and management of the swimming programme; Junior Squads, Masters, Learn to Swim and other aquatic activities and associated administration

• Coaching of the Junior and Masters squads

• Review and update coaching methodology from Learn to Swim to all the Junior Squads and Masters on an ongoing basis, to ensure fundamental swim skills and create opportunity for athletes to compete at College and World Masters

Championship level

• Continue to build the reputation of and team spirit within programme by engaging with and introducing new ideas and best practice to the club swim community including around pastoral care.

• Lead and manage a team of approx. 4 full time coaches and 8 part time coaches

• Develop the Club’s local and International competitive opportunities

• Ensure the swimming programme is operated effectively, efficiently and within the annual financial budget.

• Work closely with the Sports & Recreation team in order to promote swimming and swimming related events at the Club

Qualifications:

• Over 10 years coaching experience with a proven record of competitive success at national/ regional level

• Holder of advanced coaching accreditation, Pool Lifeguard Award & First Aid Certificate

• Excellent leadership, communication and administration skills

• Experience in working with parents and committees/ boards

• High level of computer literacy and experience with Team Unify

• High level of fluency in English for oral presentations and written reports

• References of video of coaching to be made available upon request

• The term of employment is for a period of 2 years with the opportunity to enter into a new contract upon a successful review at the completion of the initial term.
