Chesham Swimming Club has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Head Age Group Coach to join us and develop our Age Group and Development pathway.

 

Chesham Swimming Club has in the last year developed a coaching collaboration with Amersham Swimming Club and the prospective coach would report to the Director of Swimming of Amersham & Chesham Swimming Clubs (Jason Keeler) to further develop, manage and progress the performance of both the Age Group and Development Pathways within Chesham Swimming Club, in the last year the initial stages of this development have begun with 3 swimmers selected for the 11 year old Swim England Pathway Camps. We aim to build on this success and continue our development of the Age Group and Development Pathways.

 

The successful applicant will plan and deliver sessions for their Age Group Squads as well as lead the development pathway and a team of development coaches. This role will include helping implement a successive pathway from our Academy into our Development and Performance Age Squads. It will also include picking, managing and monitoring the Junior League teams.

 

The right candidate will also work under the Director of Swimming in the planning, structure and development of the club.

 

Job Description

Job Title: Head Age Group Coach Reporting To: Director of Swimming Qualification: ASA Level 2 Coach or higher

Working Hours: 17-19 hours poolside coaching plus admin & meets. Salary: Up to £20,000 per annum based on experience & qualification.

Job Specification

Outline: To plan, deliver and provide engaging and progressive training to our Performance Age and Junior Development Squads in line with the Director of Swimming’s vision and the Optimal Athlete Development Framework. To be also lead and be responsible for the overall success of our Development Pathway.

 Main Responsibilities:

Plan and Deliver Coaching to our Performance Age Squads:

Planning and delivery of sessions for Age Group Swimmers aged (10-14)

  • Deliver all sessions in line with Chesham Swimming Clubs code of conduct and with consideration of child protection policies during squad sessions.
  • To deliver suitable progressive training plans that engages and develops our age group swimmers
  • Sending regular communication to age group swimmers and parents
  • To attend all competitions when needed or specified by the Director of Swimming
  • To record swimmers attendance on the OnDeck register app and monthly feedback report to the Director of Swimming
  • To encourage swimmers to enter competitions as per the competition calendar set by the Director of Swimming and advise swimmers what events to enter.
  • Setting swimmer targets when needed
  • Regularly reviewing training and performance to ensure that the training programme is always moving forwards.
  • Taking land training sessions when needed.

Plan and Deliver Coaching to our Junior Development Squad

  • As per above but with swimmers aged 9-11 year olds a huge focus on skill and technique development.

Lead and Manage the Development Pathway

  • Working with the Director of Swimming to lead and manage the coaches and swimmers in the development pathway.
  • Working with development coaches to ensure plans and session plans are in place
  • Holding performance/appraisal meetings when needed
  • Talent identifying swimmers and ensuring that swimmers progress through the pathway
  • Working with the Academy coach to move swimmers into the development pathway.

Communication:

  • To deal with enquiries and communication from parents in a professional manner.
  • Respond to emails on a daily basis in a professional manner
  • To liaise, report and communicate with the Director of Swimming on a daily basis.
  • Dealing with complaints and ensuring that these are escalated where necessary.
  • Attend monthly club coaches meeting.

Quality Assurance and Health & Safety:

  • Raising any concerns regarding child protection to the child protection officer
  • Ensuring that all swimmers and spectators are following pool rules and that health and safety is observed at all times.
  • Deal appropriately with emergency situations, in the event of an incident filling out an accident/incident report form with as much detail as possible and following reporting to the line manager or senior management as appropriate.
  • To attend staff training and CPD sessions and keep knowledge up to date.
  • To consider own personal development needs when choosing optional CPD attendance
