Brompton Swimming Club - Assistant Head Coach Vacancy

Brompton Swimming Club (BSC) has a vacancy for an Assistant Head Coach.  BSC is based in Fulham, London and was formed just 10 years ago. In that time it has emerged as a force in London Region swimming. The club has 150 competitive members and has plans to continue to grow.


We seek applications from level 2 or level 3 certified coaches interested in the role of Assistant Head Coach. We are looking for a coach who is passionate about both swimming and working with children. The role is part time and involves 12-16 hours per week plus additional hours for weekend galas. A minimum of 2 years' experience working with age group, youth and/or senior swimmers is required.

BSC will offer a competitive rate of pay to the right candidate.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Head Coach to set direction and performance targets for the Club.
  • Providing a dedicated and professional approach towards coaching, supporting both competitive and development squad swimmers to reach their full potential.
  • Developing a systematically and scientifically based annual training and competition programme based around the principles of LTAD. Preparing monthly training plans and set training sessions for an assigned squad and provide guidance for monthly plans and weekly sets for coaches of the other competitive squads.
  • Managing and supporting the coaches of the other competitive squads under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Attending appropriate competitions and training camps.
  • Monitoring swimmers’ progress and working with the Head Coach to co-ordinate swimmer movements between squads in conjunction with the other squad coaches, and communicate to all relevant parties (where applicable) in a timely manner.
  • Following Health & Safety Procedures and the ASA Child Protection Policy.

Reporting to: Head Coach and Brompton Swim Club Committee

Skills and qualities needed:

  • Minimum ASA Level 2 Coach (or equivalent)
  • Self-motivated with high levels of technical knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Professional management skills
  • Ability to motivate others

Available to start as soon as possible or negotiable latest in January 2018
