Job Title: Assistant Coach/Support & Analysis 

Responsible to: Head of Performance Coaching/Head

 Coach Job Type: Permanent, full-time Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience 

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the City of Manchester Aquatic Swim Team (COMAST) as an assistant coach who would have an analytical slant to their coaching style. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for performance data analysis, providing sports science support and input into planning and implementation of training and competition cycles. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• To work primarily with the Pro Squad and to analyse data and provide support to all COMAST coaches, support staff and swimmers 

• To input into the planning and implementation of training and competition cycles 

• To manage the delivery from different practitioners to the performance groups of swimmers and staff 

• To communicate and work with partner organisations to effectively deliver outcomes 

• To provide cover wherever needed for coaching colleagues across the team 

• Willingness to be lifeguard qualified • To share knowledge, mentor and manage coaches within the program as instructed by the Head Coach 

• To provide reports to committee, head coach and partners where requested 

• To work with the coaching team to facilitate the team’s goals and philosophy 

• To fulfil any other duties commensurate with the role Essential criteria: 

• Good practical sports science knowledge • SE/UKCC level 1 & level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent (or working towards) 

• An analytical mindset to compliment the coaching team 

• Experience of working with athletes 

• Experience of working in a team environment 

• Willing to be trained as a TM 1 & TM 2 

• Willingness to embrace and learn from own and others failures and success 

Desirable: 

• Further education qualification to degree level (ideally within Sports & Exercise Science field) 

• Knowledge of Swimming at National Level or above. 

• Experience of working in a club environment 

• NPLQ Qualified Skills / Abilities: 

• Strong analytical ability with good attention to detail 

• Ability to work effectively as part of City of Manchester Aquatics Swim Team and to work using own initiative. 

• Organised, with effective time management 

• Comfortable in expressing an opinion in a high performance situation and debate openly and robustly 

• Enthusiastic about elite level swimming and the pathway associated. • Able to provide accurate feedback in a timely manner 

• Able to establish good relationships 

• Effective communication skills, IT, written and oral 

• Flexible approach to work and Continued Professional Development General: 

• DBS Clearance • Ability to Travel 

• Comply with COMAST policies 

• Act as an effective role model
