Stockport Metro – Club Operations Manager Post

CLUB OPERATIONS MANAGER
Full time – Job share available
Circa £25,000

Life Leisure is looking to appoint a ‘Club Operations Manager’ to provide effective leadership and management of the voluntary sector of Stockport Metro SC.

With the sustainability of a world class environment in mind; the post will have a key responsibility for maximising income streams, capitalising on sponsorship, grants and business opportunities.

The position requires a minimum of a post graduate qualification or equivalent proven business experience.

Candidates should be forward thinking, business minded individuals who are performance driven. Candidates should have previous experience of leading a team and excellent I.T and organisational skills. A minimum of three years budget accountability will be required.

BSCA Supports WADA’s Coach True Programme

WADA recognises that Coaches have an important role to play in ensuring that their athletes are not tempted by doping.
As a result WADA has created a series of tools to assist anti-doping organizations, coaching associations and universities in providing anti-doping education to coaches.

The CoachTrue programme includes sections of r Coaches working with Recreational or Developmental athletes, as well as those working with Elite athletes.

What’s YOUR Favourite set??

We all have our favourite set that we come back to, vary and play about with. It can be for Speed, for Endurance, for technical improvements or a combination of factors – some simple; some complex!

It’s our own little comfort blanket …..

So what’s yours … whole stroke, part stroke, kick set, drill, pull or a combination of some or all of these.

Leading London Swim Club looks for General Manager

A leading London swimming club is looking for a General Manager to lead the Club’s management team.
The successful applicant will have a proven record of successful sports club management, at least five years experience in swimming ideally not just in the UK, a productive fund-raising history and demonstrable IT skills.

The post is full-time & competitively remunerated.

Maria das Dores Meira (Mayor of Setubal), José Mourinho (holding the official shirt of the competition), and Paulo Frischknecht (President of the Portuguese Swimming Federation and FINA Bureau Member

The President of the Portuguese Swimming Federation (and FINA Bureau Member) Paulo Frischknecht was on October 27, 2011 in Madrid (ESP) to meet José Mourinho, the coach of the local football club Real Madrid, who will be the Ambassador of the “FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier”, to be held on June 9-10, 2012 in the Portuguese city of Setubal. Frischknecht was accompanied by the Mayor of Setubal, Maria das Dores Meira, and gave to Mourinho the official shirt of the competition. This event will complete the list of the 25 men and 25 women eligible to compete at the 10km Marathon Swimming races at the 2012 Olympic Games in London (GBR).

Mourinho – a native from Setubal – promised to be present in “at least one of the two days of the qualifying event” and showed also a great interest in “following the main aquatic events during the Games time”. Paulo Frischknecht was also happy in associating this event with such a prestigious personality in the world of sport: “His presence and support will bring an added-value to success of this competition. His availability to be Ambassador of the ‘FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier’ was immediate, and will certainly be well appreciated by the entire aquatic family in Portugal”.

2011 Conference Downloads now available

All audio, video and relevant presentations from the 2011 BSCA Conference are available for purchase.

Members should log in to receive the discounted prices. Non-members can join the BSCA and then benefit from the discounted members rates once membership is validated; otherwise they are available at non-member rates.

Video files include footage of the pool sessions given by Bill Furniss (Nova Centurion, Coach to Rebecca Adlington) highlighting Freestyle development practices; Sean Kelly (Stockport ITC, coach to Kerri Anne Payne & James Goddard) providing backcrawl drills and contrasting practices on how to end a session in a way which is fun and rewarding at the same time. Bud McAllister (Swansea ITC, coach to Jemma Lowe) highlights his views on Butterfly development, whilst Patrick Miley (Garioch SC and coach of Hannah Miley) gives a series of Breaststroke drills, practices and tips.Each of the video downloads last roughly 40 minutes.

The audio footage covers all the presentations in bite size junks and can then be listened to whilst viewing copies of the presentations so that it all makes sense.
All that’s missing is the atmosphere and the pleasurable company of your coaching colleagues alongside you.

Speedo & BSCA Agreement signed

Speedo & the BSCA have, for the first time, agreed a four year contract which binds the two bodies together to work in partnership on a whole range of initiatives which will be announced over the coming months. This includes partnerships arrangements at all levels of the sport, not just within competitive spheres.
Whilst the Agreement initially revolves around support for the BSCA National Conference, it will also deal with initiatives around the UK and within specific Regions.

Watch out for further details being announced.

Marshall Joins Exec

Northampton SC Director of Swimming Jacquie Marshall has joined the BSCA Executive following this year’s AGM on the 24th September 2011 at the St Johns Hotel in Solihull. Jacquie was nominated to replace Rob Greenwood as a Lay Member, after his commitments at the ITC in Stirling increased.

Marshall is an Award winning Coach winning numerous Coach of the Year Awards in Northamptonshire and the East Midlands area.

Jacquie brings not only her swimming coaching knowledge & expertise to her role on the BSCA Exec, but also her past experience in Business management and Quality Assurance.
Brian McGuinness, BSCA Executive Director welcomed marshall’s addition to the Committee, “As the sport becomes increasingly professional, it is people with Jacquie’s background who we will become reliant upon to marry upon the competitive & business demands which have kept the BSCA consistently progressing in recent years. We welcome her aboard.”
