We are also delighted to reveal that there will now be up to 8.8 million tickets available for the Olympic Games, an increase of 800,000 from the previous figure, and 75 per cent of these tickets will go on sale from March 2011 through a public application process.
Here are some key features of our pricing strategy to help you plan your Games experience and be ready when applications open in March 2011:

We want our venues to be filled with enthusiastic sports fans so we have designed a pricing strategy to include a wide range of prices.

  1. A wide range of ticket prices including:
    • - 90% of tickets at or below £100
    • - Two-thirds of tickets at or below £50
    • - 2.5 million tickets at or below £20
  2. Full-price tickets starting at £20 for every Olympic sport.
  3. A special ‘pay your age’ offer. Young people who are aged 16 and under (at 27 July 2012) will pay their age for a ticket. Seniors aged 60 and over (at 27 July 2012) will pay £16. These ‘pay your age’ ticket prices and senior ticket prices will be available at one-third of the 640-plus sports events.
  4. Opening Ceremony tickets start from £20.12.
  5. The price of a ticket for a wheelchair space includes a companion seat located next to it.

Cycling – BMX
Bicycle moto cross (BMX) is the newest Olympic Cycling discipline, making its debut at the Beijing 2008 Games.
Based on moto cross, BMX races are not for the faint-hearted, with thrills and excitement aplenty as riders race around a 300-400m track featuring jumps and bump and berms (banked corners).

Races take about 40 seconds and eight riders compete in each heat, with the four fastest riders qualifying for the next round.
The BMX competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games will take place at the BMX Circuit, a new 6,000-seat venue in the Olympic Park.

Cycling – Mountain Bike
Cross-country mountain biking made its debut at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
A top mountain bike rider will need to combine endurance and fitness with machine control to negotiate the hilly terrain which takes them over trees, branches and rocks.
Riders all start together and must omplete a set number of laps of the course with a race duration of around two hours for both men and women. The winner is the first past the finish line!
The Mountain Bike competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games will take place at Hadleigh Farm in Essex.
