Personal Achievements in Swimming and/or coaching:	Glenn Smith is currently the Head Coach to Mansfield/Nova Swim Squad, which is part of the very successful Nottinghamshire County Council Swim Squad Nova Centurion Sc. Glenn has been coaching professionally for 15 years, and has placed swimmer’s on Regional, National and World Class Programme’s.
A Little Bit About Glenn:	Glenn has recently produced swimmers who have competed at the highest level including 2008 Paralympic Champion Sam Hynd, and IPC European Champion Charlotte Henshaw. Glenn was also part of the coaching chain that produced double Olympic Champion Rebecca Adlington, who he coached during her early development.

FINA has added 9 manufactures and 112 suits onto the 2010 approved suit list since the list’s original posting a month ago on January 4, 2010. However, while the suits have been added to it, no announcement of changes to the list has been made, other than the list itself being updated. The actual date of the publication of the list has not changed either from its original January 4, 2010 publication.

Dave Haller – President
The figurehead position held by Dave Haller was awarded because of his position as a modern day icon of the activity & profession in this country. The City of Cardiff Head Coach, most recently known for his work with David Davies & Thomas Haffield, also has a list of the who’s who in British swimming to his name when considering who has come under his wing at some point; David Wilkie, Duncan Goodhew, Sharon Davies & Mark Foster amongst many. A former GB Olympic Head Coach who has worked as Director of Swimming for Scotland, Chief Coach in Southampton, Beckenham and Hong Kong, Dave continues to work at developing excellence and mentoring younger coaches in Wales & elsewhere.

Terry Denison, MBE, Chairman of BSCA

Chairman of the BSCA since 2003, Terry Denison was Head Coach to City of Leeds SC for 35 years until retiring from active coaching in 2003. During this time, City of Leeds won the European Community Mens Club Team Championship in 1990; won 15 National Senior Team Championships, 19 National Speedo League Championships and had 17 swimmers selected for Olympic Games Teams. Adrian Moorhouse won Olympic Gold Medal in 1988 and Andrew Astbury won an Olympic Bronze medal in 1984. James Hickman was 5 times World Short Course Champion and Claire Huddart was a member of the GB World SC 800 Relay Champions. City of Leeds swimmers set 1 World LC Record(equalled on 2 further occasions) and 6 World SC Records whilst being coached by Terry.

Terry was awarded the MBE for services to swimming in 1998 and was awarded the UK Sport Massabini Award and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003. In 1996 he was awarded the Harold Fern Award by the ASA for service to swimming; he was 11 time BSCA Coach of the Year and in 1989 was selected as Coach of the Year by the British Institute of Sport.

Since retiring from active coaching Terry has spent 3 years working with Swim Ireland to set up a High Performance Programme; he has successfully completed the UKCC Level 3 Award in Sports Coach Mentoring and currently presents UKCC Level Coaches Courses. He also does talks to various organisations on motivation and athlete development as well as Mentoring on the ACO programme.

Brian McGuinness – Executive Director
Brian McGuinness is BSCA Executive Director, running the BSCA office, co-ordinating events and representational activities, as well as managing the business of the association. Brian has been involved in coaching professionally for over 3 decades. A swimming coach by trade he has worked at grass roots level, all the way through to the top levels of the sport, including Olympic Games & World Championships; as well as everywhere in between. He was the first winner of the BSCA Alan Hime Memorial Award in 1981 for his work in producing a host of international competitors in a short period of time in unfashionable Oldham. He has experience working in sport within local government, schools, private clubs as well as regional and national governing bodies. He is a presenter, tutor & assessor within the ASA UKCC Level 3 Coach education programme. His company CoachEdUK, provides educational & development support for coaches as well as representing coaches in employment law and respective sports law matters. He has been heavily involved for the last 15 years in representing the cases of coaches where child welfare & child protection concerns & allegations have been made. Brian is a Board member of the World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA) in the position of CEO of their Europe office.
He is married, due to celebrate his Silver wedding anniversary in August, has two sons and also has a keen interest in football, music and film.

Achievements in Swimming and / or Coaching:	Started coaching in 1990 at City of Hull Swimming Club, then became Age Group Coach at the newly formed Kingston upon Hull Swimming Club in 1996. Took position as Age Group Coach at City of Leeds SC in 1997. Became Head Coach at City of Sheffield Swim Squad in 2001. I have coached Sheffield swimmers to 50 GB International caps to date, placing swimmers on European Youth Olympics, European Juniors, World Youth, European Short and Long Course, Commonwealth, World and Olympic Teams.

Adrian Moorhouse won Olympic Gold Medal in 1988 and Andrew Astbury won an Olympic Bronze medal in 1984. James Hickman was 5 times World Short Course Champion and Claire Huddart was a member of the GB World SC 800 Relay Champions. City of Leeds swimmers set 1 World LC Record(equalled on 2 further occasions) and 6 World SC Records whilst being coached by Terry.

Terry was awarded the MBE for services to swimming in 1998 and was awarded the UK Sport Massabini Award and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003. In 1996 he was awarded the Harold Fern Award by the ASA for service to swimming; he was 11 time BSCA Coach of the Year and in 1989 was selected as Coach of the Year by the British Institute of Sport.

Since retiring from active coaching Terry has spent 3 years working with Swim Ireland to set up a High Performance Programme; he has successfully completed the UKCC Level 3 Award in Sports Coach Mentoring and currently presents UKCC Level Coaches Courses. He also does talks to various organisations on motivation and athlete development as well as Mentoring on the ACO programme.

Brian McGuinness – Executive Director
Brian McGuinness is BSCA Executive Director, running the BSCA office, co-ordinating events and representational activities, as well as managing the business of the association. Brian has been involved in coaching professionally for over 3 decades. A swimming coach by trade he has worked at grass roots level, all the way through to the top levels of the sport, including Olympic Games & World Championships; as well as everywhere in between. He was the first winner of the BSCA Alan Hime Memorial Award in 1981 for his work in producing a host of international competitors in a short period of time in unfashionable Oldham. He has experience working in sport within local government, schools, private clubs as well as regional and national governing bodies. He is a presenter, tutor & assessor within the ASA UKCC Level 3 Coach education programme. His company CoachEdUK, provides educational & development support for coaches as well as representing coaches in employment law and respective sports law matters. He has been heavily involved for the last 15 years in representing the cases of coaches where child welfare & child protection concerns & allegations have been made. Brian is a Board member of the World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA) in the position of CEO of their Europe office.
He is married, due to celebrate his Silver wedding anniversary in August, has two sons and also has a keen interest in football, music and film.
